Have you ever experienced similar symptoms as the narrator experiences throughout the book?
– If so, what were they?
– If not, what symptoms did you experience, and can you draw any similarities between your experiences at that of the narrator in Mush?

What were you thinking when the narrator decided not to see a specialist about her gastrointestinal problems prior to moving across the country with Nick?

After undergoing an endoscopy but before receiving the results, the narrator goes to an Italian restaurant with her parents and their friends. What was your reaction to that scene?

We can see that the narrator in Mush experienced symptoms of celiac disease throughout her entire life, though she was not aware that’s what they were at the time. Looking back at your own life, are there symptoms that now seem obvious as having to do with celiac disease or gluten intolerance? How long did it take you to seek medical care and/or arrive at a diagnosis?
